Abstract

Provides an analysis of Pierre de Coubertin's contribution to the resumption of the Olympic Games. Discusses de Coubertin's attitude towards the opportunities for transforming sport into an agent for improving understanding among people and stabilizing world peace. Suggests several ways in which the peaceful role of sport can be strengthened.
