Conclusion

Abstract

This final chapter has a dual goal. First, we outline our comparative approach that was the basis for this book, and assess its application in the different case studies. We thereby want to contribute to the advancement of comparative methods in the field. Second, the chapter examines a central theme that has emerged in this book: the power of an intricate discourse responsible for the creative city restructuring that grips so many cities across the globe. We discuss the still poorly understood form, features, and tropes embedded in this discourse that enables it to exert such influence today. Our interest is to deepen the understanding of the tools, techniques, and discursive strategies that anchor it and lead to emergent inequalities within cities that need to be analyzed from a cosmopolitan perspective.
