Abstract

We present in this paper a system for automatic phonetization of text dedicated to the standard Arabic language. The general methodologies, as well as technical details are given. The phonetic transcription constitutes a fundamental step for the development of any text to speech system. The system developed here consists of two stages. In the first stage are processed the exceptions based on an Arabic language exception database. The second step consists in processing the remaining text content by using phonetic transcription rules we have elaborated. Validation is performed through phonetic transcription of a well established corpus of standard Arabic text. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2013.
