Abstract

Stationary satellites have been used for global commercial communication satellite system; however, they have several disadvantages so that orbit-controlled medium- altitude satellite system, and use of quasi-synchronous satellites with period of revolution (around earth) of less than 12 hr have been proposed previously; author, on other hand, points out that optimum satellite system involves equatorial orbit with period of 12 to 16 hr and proposes that global communication satellite system should employ this orbit.
