Abstract

Network applications are increased in both quality and quantity by advanced network technology and hardware. Especially, multimedia streaming such as IPTV has increased grown exponentially by customer demand. In order to provide IPTV services competently, it is necessary to secure network resources stably. In this paper, we propose a method guaranteeing competent QoS, based on traditional AVB, for reserving network resources for IPTV services. We propose a time synchronization with single time-sync frame and mean propagation delay symmetry, and an enhanced AVB with considering reservation failure situations, and guarantee QoS for IPTV services. For performance analysis, we make a enhanced AVB simulation model, and measure accuracy of time synchronization, end-to-end delay, and utilization with OPNET. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
