Abstract

Amidst realities of uneven and unassured supply of water, management of every available drop becomes urgent and necessary. Bangladesh suffers from a phenomena of excessive water in monsoon and deficit during the dry season. This requires coordinated understanding and actions from government authorities, water planners and irrigation engineers. Emerging climate change scenario is making its presence felt with unpredictability. As Bangladesh receives more than ninety per cent of water from beyond its territory, it needs coordination with neighbours as well. Being a deltaic area, there is a little scope for water storage infrastructure, efficient management becomes the only practical option in the country.
