Unicode is now a reality, but its complete uses are just coming out. To study the appropriation of a technology requires distinuishing between two levels of usage : that of computer and communication professionals, and that of a larger social spectrum (businesses, academia, cultural institutions, the general public). Technological systems, a notion borrowed from historians on technology, provides a concept which is extremely helpful in understanding successive generations of technology and technocultures and studying technological appropriation. Meanwhile, multiscripturality (linked to our native languages and writing systems) goes to the heart of our societal and individual collective unconsciences. Grammatology helps us comprehend the development of a technoculture favorizing the future of multi-writing. In conclusion, several prospective scenarios are proposed.
