This chapter examines how sportswomen were represented in a Korean newspaper, Donga Ilbo, during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. To locate this discussion within a cultural context, a brief introduction to the media's role in Korean society is provided. Second, previous feminist research regarding sports media reports in Korea is presented. Finally, before embarking on the ideological content of the newspaper representation, the method is detailed.
