Examines juvenile delinquency prevention programs that implement large-scale intervention and social change strategies. Three models of community organization (locality, development, social planning, and social action) are used to evaluate 3 exemplary delinquency prevention programs: the Chicago Area Project (E. V. Mech, 1975), the 1960s' provision of opportunity programs, and the 1960s' comprehensive community-based projects such as Mobilization for Youth (L. T. Empey, 1982). Implications for victim-focused crime prevention are discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
