Abstract

Home range size averaged 4030 ha (range 1280-7300 ha), with 3 moose exhibiting movements between separate seasonal home ranges. Riparian shrub and high-volume coniferous forests were preferred habitat during conditions of thick snow cover. River terrace Sitka spruce Picea sitchensis stands were selected over mixed western hemlock Tsuga heterophylla-Sitka spruce old-growth forests in both populations. Clearcuts under 30 yr of age were utilized more heavily than unlogged old-growth forests.-from Author
