Abstract

In recent years industries such as defence have moved towards availability contracts, where an agreement is made between the supplier and customer for the provision of a fully functioning product/service for a given period of time. The aim of the research presented in this paper is to propose novel approaches and methods for predicting the through life manufacture and repair cost of avionic availability, providing greater certainty for in-service costs. The initial findings from this pilot study investigated the cost estimating relationships to predict failure rates of products and in turn the cost of providing availability of these products.
