Abstract

The aim of this Research Handbook is to highlight salient and emerging issues related to the increasing interdependence between international migration and digital technology. How this technology is shaping our lives has been, and continues to be, well documented in the broader literature. And yet, we have seen a fragmented approach thus far to the interlinkages between digitalisation and migration patterns and processes globally, with some topics receiving much greater attention than others (such as the ‘appification’ of migration following the 2015 migration ‘crisis’ in Europe). This volume draws together the latest research and knowledge on the various aspects of this topic, providing an overview of the state of the art in the field while also assessing the future scope of research and scholarly enquiry. It is the first volume of its type on the topic, and so fills a current gap in academic publishing that is likely to be of interest to academic and general audiences alike.
