A high resolution three dimensional viscous vortex method is applied tothe simulation of vortex rings. The ring is found to transition underspecific perturbations generating a turbulent main ``puff{''} and amedusa-like structure. The inner part of the ring remains laminar as itis revealed by these simulations.
