Abstract

Coherent Population Trapping (CPT) atomic clock can be realized to be a chip scale atomic clock. This paper presents our signal processing scheme, including the equations we derived for the scheme, and the corresponding circuit based on digital signal processor. The power consumption of the circuit is 200mW, and the volume is 10cm 3. Connected with an experimental physics package to form a CPT atomic clock, the circuit has realized all the expected functions. The atomic clock circuit based on this scheme is suitable for further reducing size and power consumption, and is promising to be applied in the chip scale atomic clock. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH Berlin Heidelberg.
