Abstract

To clarify the aerodynamic characteristics of a middle vehicle (intermediate vehicle), wind-tunnel tests were conducted using 1 / 40 scale models of vehicle and bridge with typical configurations under the condition that airflow is perpendicular to them. In the tests, side force, lift and rolling moment were measured. Measurement results were used to clarify the characteristics of strong winds, and as bases for proposing several software and hardware preventive measures.
