Abstract

We have studied the actual function demand for the optical cable patrol system and proposed an improved method of optical fiber inspection based on ARM9 processor and GPRS technology. RFID is used for malfunction maintenance and general management under online supervision. The system has the ability of real-time communication with inspection terminals by RFID and ARM technology. It can also make a combination with existing fiber optic monitoring system to deal with field diagnostic. Database programming and management are taken to improve the performance in real-time and two-way. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
