In the days and weeks following the Columbine shootings, I walked around school seeing things in a totally different light. I didn't just stroll down the halls with my usually oblivious "I-didn't-get-enough-sleep" attitude. I really looked at the people walking next to me, in front of me, and in back of me. All I kept thinking was, "Any one of these people could shoot me at any second." I knew it was highly unlikely but after watching CNN's coverage of Columbine for hours, I came to the realization that as ridiculous as it may seem, it could happen at my school. It could happen at any school. © 2005 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
