Abstract

With the advances in welfare information technology, Smart Home-based solutions have been gaining importance and becoming accepted as an alternative means of energy-saving based on HEMS – Home Energy Management Systems. This paper defines a decision-making fuzzy technique to be used in a novel architecture (SmartCoM). A fuzzy system has been implemented to provide an efficient energy control method based on power consumption and its respective management. The SmartCoM end-to-end architecture is set out in detail by means of consumer optimization strategies for both the end customer and the utility. The main advantages of using the SmartCoM is shown by the numerical results obtained from the proposed architecture. The aim of this article is to show the current state-of-the-art of SmartCoM decision-making, as well as the next stages of related research.
