P-142 Severity of Malnutrition Status of Gastrointestinal Cancer: Nutritional Screening and Assessment Registry in Korean Gastroenterointestinal Cancer Patients

Abstract

Introduction: Malnutrition is common among cancer patients, unintentional malnutrition may be associated with decreased quality of life and a poorer prognosis. Also, nutritional problems are more common in gastroenterointestinal (GEI) organ cancer patients. However the prevalence and severity of malnutrition have not been assessed systemically in Korean GEI cancer patients. The aim of this study is to assess of nutrition status in GEI cancer patients in Korea. Methods: This study is Nation-wide, nutrition screening and assessment registry of GEI cancer patient including stomach, esophagus, colon, pancreas, and biliary tract cancer except early stage patients. 8 tertiary referral hospitals of Korea participated in this study. Assessment of nutrition status was performed using PG-SGA (patient-generated subjective global assessment). Malnutrition related risk of clinical parameters and laboratory data were analyzed. Results: 150 patients from 8 tertiary hospitals were enrolled. Mean weight loss of patients was 9.9Kg. Patients in moderate malnutrition and severe malnutrition state were 35.4% and 41.9%, respectively. Biliary cancer patients' malnutrition was more severe (94.7%). Malnutrition patients of stomach cancer, colon cancer, and pancreatic cancer were 72.7%, 64%, and 80%, respectively. Weight loss, cancer stage, performance scale were related malnutrition status. Serum albumin and hemoglobin were related laboratory factors with malnutrition. Conclusion: Malnutrition is severe in GEI cancer patients of Korea. Weight loss, cancer stage, performance scale, serum albumin and hemoglobin were related to malnutrition.
