A systematic review of blockchain application in healthcare quality improvement was undertaken in this paper. Google Scholar was used as the search engine. The title of the paper was used as the keyword and the search yielded 56 papers. Most papers were reviews or concepts. The review found that blockchain frameworks and models have been proposed for various healthcare contexts to improve quality, but, they remain concepts or just proof of concepts. None of these frameworks have been actually implemented in real world situations. This research has identified a need for a real world implementation of blockchain frameworks and models to enhance the quality of healthcare. The improvements in quality of healthcare by the implementation of blockchain frameworks and models can have a positive impact in crisis situations (e.g., Covid-19 pandemic).
