Abstract

(from the chapter) This chapter provides the basics of human developmentand helps parents to understand not only how autism affects theirchild's development, but also how a good educational program andconsistent, loving care can make a critical difference in their child'slife. Some typical achievements in the areas of cognitive, communication,social-emotional and motor development for normal children are summarizedand discussed.
