Abstract

This article analyzes the proposal of the discipline religious education in the National Common Curriculum Base for the Fundamental Education as a public policy element, according to two points of view: the process of its production and the product. The production of this policy was analyzed based on the agents that have proposed it, particularly the NGO Permanent National Forum for Religious Education- (FONAPER), a social interest group constituted by the Catholic segment of the religious field. The product was analyzed from the comparison of the proposed curriculum with the concept of the secular school enunciated in the Observatory of Secularism in Education (OLE). The article concludes that there is no legitimate pedagogical justification for religious education in the public school curriculum.
