Abstract

Hiking and mountaineering is one of the most popular sports worldwide. Despite hikingdoes not seem to be an activity with a high risk of injury the incidence is surprisingly high.Possible reasons are the unfamiliar environment in high altitudes and the overestimation ofone's own capabilities. This chapter will show the risk factors of hiking and mountaineering,possible injuries, their treatment and prevention.
