Abstract

This paper describes the deductive approach to research in engineering and built environment and focuses mainly on the use of experiments for data gathering. Details of experimental methods in the laboratory, field and numerical conditions are discussed. Various sensors and transducers commonly used in experiments as well as data logging systems are also described. © Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2014.
