Abstract

Corticobasal degeneration (CBD) is a heterogeneous clinical and pathological syndrome. CBD is characterized mainly by parkinsonism and dystonia. Other important symptoms include clumsy or jerky arms, postural instability, and gait disturbances. Falls could appear in the early stages of the disease. There are also cognitive and behavioral disturbances, sensory dysfunction, and speech disturbances. Limb apraxia and alien limb syndrome are some of the most common impairments of CBD. There is a low clinical and pathological correlation in CBD. The treatment is unsatisfactory overall. There is a poor response to dopaminergic medication.
