Abstract

Using XRD, XRF, AA and SEM, two diagenetic alterations are inferred. Low-T alteration formed smectite and zeolites (phillipsite and clinoptilolite). The second occurs in sediments overlying the basalts and the altered basalts themselves, and this hydrothermal phase produced palygorskite. -K.A.R.
