Abstract

The low Reynolds number flow between two concentric steadily rotatingspheres is considered. The pattern of streamlines is explained in terms of an adiabaticinvariant. It is shown that, when the two rotation vectors are not parallel, the streamlinesbecome chaotic when the Reynolds number Re is increased and the onset of global chaosoccurs near Re = 20.
