Abstract

When the human body encounters a foreign antigen, the immune response uses a variety of mechanisms to remove that antigen. These mechanisms include, among others, localized inflammation (characterized by rubor, calor, dolor, tumor, and loss of function), 27 immune cell recruitment, and antibody production.
