Abstract

Premiere Vision for 2004 took place in Paris, France and looks to provide the fashion clues in terms of shades colours and textures for next year. Soft colour shades of red, green and blue were found in many collections in combination with whites and natural shades. Pleating and embroidery were in vogue, as was soft lustre effects, floral, chinoiserie and striped designs. New fabrics were displayed with special attention paid to the latest natural fibre Ingeo, made from corn. Lyocell fabric with good absorbency and colours is becoming a strong competitor for cotton. Elastomeric fibres are widely used and a new denim range called Xpand is illustrated in a colour photograph. Linen is once again increasing its profile with new fabric from Masters of Linen and its use as a blended fibre. In fashion design Aboriginal, African and Aztec culture provides the basis for a range of bold designs.
