Abstract

The surgical technique of double access with proximal and distal mini-incision does not have a clear paternity, and therefore cannot be attributed to one single author [1-4].This appears in literature in the period that fol-lows the introduction of the endoscopic technique [5] and takes advantage of certain specific characteristics of said technique and,at the same time,of the open technique. This methodology uses two incisions similar to those used in the endoscopic technique [6],thus avoiding problems due to pain during the healing processoftheskin.Atthesametime, bymeansofthedistal incision,a view is obtained of the components of the carpal tunnel (median nerve and flexor tendons), which would not be possible with the endoscopic technique, but only with the open technique. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
