Abstract

Effect of ozone and PAN on cellulose synthesis (described by Ordin 1965) is probably due to their oxidizing effect on sulfydryl groups. Clearly these findings suggest ineraction between the oxidants and the cell wall biosynthesis, however, a direct interaction with either the cell wall or its components has not been demonstrated.
