Abstract

Gastric volvulus is a rotation of all or part of the stomach by more than 180°. This may occur due to the presence of lax stabilizing ligaments of the stomach, or in association with a paraesophageal hernia. Less than 180° of rotation is considered as partial volvulus. (Peterson et al. 2009)
