Abstract

The purpose of this text is to investigate how the Portuguese Language (LD) didactic workbook proposes work with the teaching of reading, analyzing if this material presents readings related to text - study activities, called 'readings for pleasure' or 'enjoyment' as a strategy for the formation of a competent reader. This research is based on reading studies from Geraldi (1984), Eco (1986), Chartier (1994, 2001), Manguel (1997), Souza (1999) and Colomer (2007). The research corpus, Projeto Telaris: português (Borgatto, Bertin, & Marchezi, 2017), is intended to the 9th year of Secondary Education. Considering the fifty five reading options presented in the Unit 1 of this textbook. The results showed that in the fifty five reading proposals presented in Unit 1 LD 'eight' different reading objectives were identified. Among them, there was no presence of any proposal whose objective was pleasure. This finding is considered to be a concern since reading in the LD could serve as an important teaching strategy for the formation of the reader.
