Abstract

In this chapter I shall review briefly the development of the male genital tract (including the gonaducts and associated glands as well as derivatives of the urogenital sinus), secondary sexual characters and the hormonal factors influencing development, structure and function. Emphasis is placed on fishes, amphibians and reptiles, but occasional observations concerning birds and mammals are included.
