Abstract

Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a life-threatening emergency that requires a prompt diagnosis and subsequent referral for urgent surgical intervention. A thorough understanding of ATAAD, including its clinical presentation and pathophysiology, as well as the diagnostic modalities and surgical treatment options available, is necessary for clinicians and surgeons to optimize patient survival. With appropriate management in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative period, contemporary results for the treatment of ATAAD are promising.
