The aim of this chapter is to discuss risk management in complex systems through the prism of Actor-Network Theory (ANT). Actor-Network Theory studies both human and non-human factors in shaping the discursive performance of individuals and communities while offering a holistic approach to the issue of managing risks in complex systems elaborated through the perspective of language. To narrow the scope of discussion, the author focuses on the communicative side of dealing with extraordinary situations in diversified systemic entities. First, the author discusses the nature of complex systems by looking at the studied phenomenon from the perspective of communication. In that case, the characteristics of complex systems are presented, together with challenges for those who are taking part in any form of interaction. Secondly, Actor-Network Theory is applied to discuss risk management and its communicative aspects. To discuss the mentioned complexities, the case study of the apiculture industry is presented to show the application of diversified tools and participants in risk management.
