Abstract

On a multi-agent system, an agent cooperates with others to complete its task. Such a system has good flexibility and scalability for network management and service control so that it is expected to be a unified platform for next generation network architecture. However, since each agent migrates from a node to another node autonomously, it is difficult for an agent to know the location of others. Thus, it is important to support location transparent communications. In addition, it is also useful for mobile terminals to use mobile agent technology. However, it is usually difficult for agents to know the network location of the terminal when the terminal moves. In such a case, therefore, agents cannot communicate with the terminal. Practically, there are no systems that support the location transparency with mobile terminals. In this paper, we propose a location transparent multi-agent system with terminal mobility support. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
