Abstract

We present a novel methodology for creating multimedia summaries of real-world events through social media information. Summaries are generated using selected multimedia data disseminated through Twitter. The proposed summarization technique takes into account social indicators of relevance, which are used to select a set of representative multimedia objects for summarizing the event from a social perspective. In addition, our approach incorporates different news angles by extracting topics within each event. © Springer-Verlag 2013.
