Abstract

We analyzed 336 cases of meningeomas operated on in the last 10 years in our department with a follow-up ranging from 1 to ID years. The main features of the olfactory groove meningeoma is as follow: 1. Incidence of 10. 63%. 32 cases in females and 8 cases in males. 2. The main signs and symptoms were: a - Intracranial hypertension - 58%: b - Bilateral anosmia - 53%; c Behavior disturbances - 53%; d - Decreased visual acuity - 51% ; e - Fits 23%: f- Foster-Kennedy syndrome - 15% 3. Surgical approaches: bi-fromal craniotomy (69%); frontal craniotomy (13%); fronto-orbital approach (18%) 4. Surgical resection: total (95%) and partial (5%) 5. Surgical complications: CSF leak - 18%; meningitis - 13%: skin infection - 3% 6. Mortality - 6 cases; recurrence - 3 cases.
