Abstract

Aromatherapy uses essential oils for medical purposes. It is a form of alternative medicine and has no evidence-based foundation. Most often aromatherapy combines massage with the application of essential oils on the skin. Contact allergy to essential oils may cause occupational allergic contact dermatitis, mainly hand dermatitis, to aromatherapists. Fragrance chemicals are the contact allergens in essential oils.
