We discuss the application of a novel spectroscopy protocol to study the Zeeman structure of single molecular ions. From molecular structure calculations for $^{14}$N$^+_2$ and $^{16}$O$^+_2$ we deduce their Zeeman spectra and discuss their potential to be used as a resource to encode quantum information.
