Abstract

In this chapter I have summarised the efforts of GEMI, in the USA, related to EH&S supply chain management. This chapter has also included a brief overview of the many tools, cases and lessons learned that are available from GEMI. Five major topics relating to determining the business value and implementation of green supply chain practices, metrics and evaluation have been presented with examples of descriptive and prescriptive tools and measures that can be, and that are, used by organisations. Much of the work reported has taken years of development and is still evolving. The importance of this topic should not go unnoticed by organisations, and GEMI is at the forefront of making sure that such organisational awareness of EH&S issues is at the utmost highest level. © 2006 Springer-Verlag London Limited.
