Abstract

The General Assembly, in its resolution 70/208, decided to initiate, in 2016, a virtual dialogue on Harmony with Nature among, inter alia, experts on Earth jurisprudence worldwide, including those who had been active in the interactive dialogues of the General Assembly, to inspire citizens and societies to reconsider how they interact with the natural world in order to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in harmony with nature. The Assembly noted that some countries recognize the rights of nature in the context of the promotion of sustainable development and requested that the experts submit a summary to the Assembly at its seventy-first session and that the virtual dialogue be hosted on the Harmony with Nature website. The experts’ summary report of the first virtual dialogue of the General Assembly on Harmony with Nature among experts on Earth jurisprudence worldwide, containing their deliberations and recommendations, as well as an annex listing the names of the experts participating in the dialogue, is attached herewith.
