Abstract

Wireless technology extends the concept of PC based data acquisition beyond the limits of cables and wired infrastructure for new remote or distributed measurement application. Gain an understanding of wireless networking basics. Learn how to deploy reliable wireless measurement in a variety of outdoor or harsh environments for reliable and secure data acquisition systems. Examples of distributed outdoor noise and structural monitoring systems will illustrate networking layers and topologies for specific applications. ©2010 Society for Experimental Mechanics Inc.
