Abstract

Wireless sensor networks consist of hundreds or thousands of small sensors with have limited resources. The energy resource is the most challenging one to be maintained. The major reason for power drain is the communication between sensor nodes. Most of the routing algorithms for sensor networks focus on finding energy efficient paths to prolong the lifetime of the networks. In this paper, a novel routing algorithm has been proposed to detect the source of an event in the network. This algorithm also maintains a balance between the powers of different nodes in the network, so that the longevity of the overall network may increase. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
