Abstract

An aromatic ketocarotenoid, trikentriorhodin (3-hydroxy-7, 8-dihydro-κ, x-carotene-6, 8-dione) was recently isolated from sea sponge, Trikentrion helium. The existence of this carotenoid was confirmed in sea sponges, Clathria frondifera and Tedania digitata. © 1977, The Japanese Society of Fisheries Science. All rights reserved.
