Abstract

Mosques are important buildings to conduct daily worship together with the community, which is precious to the belief in Islam. Simultaneously, architectural standing of the mosques is important to embellish the city landscape. The place of the mosques, which is very important both in terms of religious and public use, is an important decision that must be specified carefully. The location of the mosque should correspond to the needs of the public and at the same time should not distort the architectural structure of the city. The needs of the city can be identified as both physical and social needs. Accordingly, this paper deals with the prioritization of the criteria affecting the selection of the mosque location. Criteria affecting the choice of Mosque location was adapted from Abu Dhabi Mosque Development Regulations Planning section as foremost developed instance for Turkey. Prioritization of the selection criteria of the mosque was carried out under fuzzy environment. In decision matrices where, triangular fuzzy numbers were employed; criteria weights were determined by geometric mean and alpha cut methods.
