Abstract

Learning Objectives: After reading this chapter and answering the discussion questions that follow, you should be able to Analyze the nature of modern conflicts, and emerging trends. Summarize the impact of conflicts on the health and well-being of women, children, and adolescents. Develop a causal model to explain the pathways by which conflicts affect maternal and child health. Discuss the relationship between war and poverty. Identify and discuss strategies for mitigating the impact of wars on women, children, and adolescents. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2009.
