Abstract

Social Network Sites can be seen as very large information repositories containing millions of text messages usually organized into complex networks involving users interacting with each other at specific times. In this paper we discuss how traditional information retrieval techniques can be extended to deal with these social aspects. In particular we formalize the concept of conversation in the context of Social Network Sites and define constraints regulating ranking functions over conversations. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
