Abstract

In Engineering, and more specifically in water resources, the need of representation of complex natural phenomena through models is of crucial importance for water resources planning and management. Through the use of these models, it is possible to understand the natural processes and to evaluate the system response to different scenarios, providing support to the decision making process. In this chapter, we investigate the use of this models to water resource engineering. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
